Undercarriage and Floor |
| The basic floor is constructed out of basswood. | |
The floor and interior end panels are made from Lionel 027 Auto Carrier sides. |
The bottom gets minor details and is painted blue, as is the top. |
Body: Sides and Ends |
The sides were made from O scale MTH mailhandler car sides. I got several bodies on eBay, these were pre-production models. Styrene strips and sheets were used for the interior panels. |
The ends were made from the MTH mailhandler roofs. |
| The body is constructed. Sides held on with hex head screws. | |
Painting |
| Truck frames and wheel faces painted. | |
I used the blue as an underpainting and sprayed the final color purple. The end sills were built up to show a coupler pocket. The trucks were painted flat black. The interior panels painted different colors. |
